Dinosaur Tooth Brush holders

**I am re-publishing this post because my letter to Family Fun made it into the latest issue. Hello Family Fun readers! Thanks for visiting my blog!
My son is a HUGE (as in Argentinasaurus-sized) dinosaur fan! So when Family Fun magazine's August 2012 issue arrived and I found  this idea, I got right to it.

I bought two plastic, hollow dinosaurs at the dollar store. (My kids would need their own. I couldn't imagine sharing something this cool.) Then I used a kitchen knife to carve a hold in the top and one on the bottom (for the icky stuff to drip out).

It really was quite easy to do. And the pay-off was big.
Both my son and daughter were THRILLED with their new toothbrush holders.
One month later, they are still eager brushers. Yay!

  1. What a cool project!!! And WHAT cute kids!!! :-)
I so often visit your blog and wonder whether I could get away with making some of your kiddy projects for my self (despite the fact that there are no kids in our house)..... ;-)

  2. Such great idea... I am so going to do that for my little man... he will love it :)

  3. This is flippin' genius! So simple and yet so fun! I found your blog via Shins on Fridays hop, and now following :) Having a hop at my blog too, if you'd care to join:

    Have a nice weekend!

  4. omg what an absolutely amazing idea - thanks for sharing.

  5. Adorable - the tooth brush holders and the kids :)

  6. Yay! Thanks for sharing at Sweet Saturday! This is the cutest idea, I can't wait to try it. Right now my daughter is using a toothbrush with a suction cup on the bottom, so it doesn't need a holder, but next time we are using a Hello Kitty one without a suction cup, so I'm going to keep my eye out for a cheap Hello Kitty toy I can do this with.

  7. It is good you carved a hold with a knife.Never knew this could be done.

  8. I saw these in the magazine. I was trying to think of a girl's version but a toothbrush coming out of a fairy's belly is a pretty gruesome thought.

  9. Fantastic idea! Can't wait to make one for my niece. Pinning :)

  12. My son will love it! Thanks for the idea!

  13. Brilliant - Love it easy and fun and looks quite cool to

    1. Thanks! It was definitely quick and easy!

  14. I loved your article so much that I decided to do the same thing for my son. He's got a lot of old dinosaurs (an entire bin full of them) and I thought I'd repurpose one of them for this project. My only mistake was not asking him first (see video)...

Thank you for your comments! I enjoy reading them! :)
