For Work in Progress Wednesday, hosted by Lee at Freshly Pieced, I thought I'd post some pictures of my second {real} quilt that's almost, almost, almost done. Yippee!
I'm calling this quilt "Birds of a Feather" because of the bird-themed squares on the front.
Now, to be honest, I'm not crazy about the backing. This fabric was my first online fabric purchase, but not my first choice. I bought it here. I selected and paid for my first choice (with was an aqua-colored feather design and it was perfect!), but then I got an email a day or so later that said, sorry, we were wrong about our stock. We don't have enough for you! Blah. So I described (this was my downfall) my second choice. But got what I got instead. I didn't want to deal with the return because I really should've given the name of the fabric instead of simply describing it. But I was annoyed nonetheless. Oh well. I have learned many things through this quilt-making process and this is just another to add to the list. And I'm fine with that.
As for the quilt, and the whole ownership bit, my cute little son is already chomping at the bit. "When are you going to be done with 'my' quilt? Not her quilt. (the little sister) She can't sleep with quilts yet." Not yet, he's right. But soon.
So I just have to finish hand-sewing the binding. I'm doing the ladder-stitch which ended up being my favorite method with the first {real} quilt. Then I have to attach a label (for my own amusement) and send it through the wash. Can't wait. The excitement is almost too much to bear! :)
It's beautiful! Great job, especially considering it's only your second one! I think the backing fabric looks very nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up to WIP Wednesday! : )
Looking good, especially for only your second quilt. I've been doing this a little over a year now and it is still SOOO fun. Happy quilting!
