The Quilting Process

Oh my goodness. I didn't realize.
REAL quilting is a whole lot of work.
But I am having fun with it.
It just takes...time.
Especially when your 3-year-old derails the process by making the in-process quilt a dinosaur cave. Awww...who could say no?
My son is ready for it to be done. He has claimed it as his because a.) it has his favorite colors red and green in it and b.) it is the dinosaurs' home. Of course.

Next step, binding. I'm a touch nervous about this. Again, this is my first REAL quilt (and I'm learning as I go), and I want it to look pretty and not all wonky. My plan is to iron the binding fabric tonight and maybe cut up the pieces. Hurrah for one step closer to being done!

I'm linking up to the other fantastic works-in-progress at Freshly Pieced. Check them out for inspiration (I know I do)!

  1. you are doing an awesome job on your first 'real' quilt! and yep, all it takes is time but the finished product is soooo worth it! keep at it, you'll be onto the next one in no time ;)

  2. This looks great! Yay for first quilts! I can pretty much guess it won't be your last :-)

  3. Thanks for this. I've always thought, and still do think, that making a quilt is a year's job, but these amazing quilty ladies seem to whip them up in a couple of days! It's looking fantastic.

  4. You're doing great! You should see my first quilt! : ) Quilting does take time, but you'll get faster if you keep doing it. And don't be nervous about the binding, just pick a good tutorial to follow and it'll come together just fine.

Thanks for linking up, have a wonderful week!
